Updated Demo Reel with new breakdowns:
Here's and updated look at my demo reel with some additional final shots from the paramount plus project and a few from my senior project. Breakdowns are on the way for these shots I also have a plan for the animation- opacity masks will reveal the logo tracing the D and the 3 simultaneously:
Here is an updated look at my logo- I am still playing with colors and setting the gradients the way I want but here is the current rough. Besides this I am thinking the one with a purple background will be good for my printed documents with the modifications being made for a fade to black for use on my reel instead of the background color. The 3 portion of the logo is also being changed to a different color to make the D behind it more legible.
Here is the new look I am going for with my logo! It looks far better than the text/typography design from before. It has that 3D look to it and still incorporates the D3 lettering just in a more abstract way. For the animation I think I will be masking out parts of it to scroll across and reveal? I am not too sure at this point as the pivot away from the original design now means the animation wont work. I'll get a better idea for this over the weekend. Once I have the logo more ironed out I feel confident moving onto the other documents such as my resume and business card etc. I was waiting on those since I didn't have the colors I wanted to brand with nor font solidified:
The gradients and what not need some touching up obviously but the general form is present! I also plan to make the colors a bit more pastel so that they are not obnoxiously bright to look at nor scream clip art. I, at the moment, like the red and blue (potentially with a fainter purple background but we will see) as it plays into the whole 3D/D3 pun with my nick name.
This weekend I updated a few things on my website as discussed in class previously and have opened adobe illustrator to attempt making my logo. Here is a screenshot of that (I honestly do not know the program very well so I am going to ask a friend for help. I spent 2 hours trying to color the cap and the extrusion on text to a different color). Aside from that I have chosen 3 fonts that I like and will go through and start updating my various documents to use. here is the image of the logo progress:
It's nothing earth shattering but I have the idea of what I would like to do, I'm just struggling to use the software at the moment. Here is the current draft of my cover letter as well. I am waiting to do the formatting till I have my stationary/letter head ready.
Attached here is my current resume draft which of course needs a lot of updating both in terms of content and style. Aside from that I have been ideating for my logo and animation and have settled on one primary idea. I am going to use the D3 from D3VFX as it is both representative of my personal brand I am building here and my own identity. For reference I am the third generation in my family to carry my name and so my family actually often refers to me as D3. Below is a reference board which I will then discuss below that:
Basically my current plan is to create this sort of isometric look with the lettering D3. I will have the actual 3D version for my demo reel animation with the purely vector graphic version being reserved for print or use in my resume, website, etc. For the animation I may create it in Unreal Engine and animate it such that the D3 appears to be flat/2D and then they stretch into this isometric look as the 3 decreases in size and moves upward to become a superscript. This then would be a play on 3D of course with this then becoming D (Dimension) cubed (superscript of 3) so effectively they hold the same meaning. Hopefully you agree but I feel that this is a clever play on words that also works my name/brand into the logo it's self becoming both a monogram of sorts but also a representation of what I do.
